Another unexpected: where are the banks on the Thailand Stock exchange? They seem none existant. What's the story here?

Great question. Since I wasn't able to find data on the sector composition of all companies listed on SET, I went for the second-best - the sector composition of the most popular index used in ETFs, namely "MSCI Thailand". It appears that this index does not contain any banks. https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239688/ishares-msci-thailand-capped-etf

Of course, you're absolutely right that there are many large banks listed in Thailand, including Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, TMB and Krung Thai.

urbanization rate is 35% in india? wow did not expect that.

I think urbanisation numbers are very difficult to interpret. Each country uses different standards. Is it about urban density? Or type of housing. I'm actually not sure whether India considers shantytowns to be urban areas of rural. But for sure, large parts of India are still underdeveloped.

Love it! Do you have a view on ETFs for those who don't have a local brokerage account? I know you don't like the indices but I wonder if there's good portfolios for retail investors.

I don't I've ever invested in an Asian ETF! Maybe once or twice. But I'm not an expert.

Here's a discussion about options available for retail investors. ETFs are probably the way to go but one has to be very selective and careful, I think.
