Cracking piece Michael. Many thanks for making it open.

I have type 1 diabetes and I’ve using FreeStyle Libre for less than two years now. For someone with diabetes, it’s been almost life-changing.

I think it’s great to be able to monitor [one of] the effects of food on your blood [sugar] and health in almost realtime. Due to having type 1 diabetes, I kinda need it, but regardless, it’s had a really positive impact on what, how, and how much I eat.

I actually wrote a piece on my substack about our information diet, and if we had such a device to monitor how we feel while consuming information, it’d be amazing: https://perspectiveix.substack.com/p/information-diet

Thank you, Michael. Great post.

I have type 1 diabetes and wear a CGM (it's not for "diabetics whose blood sugars are out of control" - it's literally what helps me figure out much insulin or food to take to keep my blood sugar IN range, but I digress....) I'd never wear one of these if I didn't have to! They are absurdly expensive too.

Just linked this on Twitter, Michael. Brilliant piece. This will likely be a major help to people who have a low IQ. Monitoring blood-sugar levels is very difficult for such folks. Will save many lives and limbs.

I just got a FreeStyle Libre for the Veri app. I'm fascinated by the number of CGM based apps around (That use dexcom or FreeStyle Libre data) - veri, levels, nutrisense, ultrahuman. They all are fairly simple apps that just plot the glucose levels and remind you to log meals - surprising the CGM companies are not going after this themselves.

I'm also surprised by how basic the FreeStyle app is - they don't even sync to Apple Health - who can likely beat all of these CGM based apps if go after it.

I used it for a month and tried lots of different foods. Tweaked my diet afterwards. I don’t think it’s something you need all the time. Also the skin under the device can get irritated. The products will need to get smaller and less scary (the needle applicator thing) to get wider adoption.

I have not. I’d imagine Levels made for non diabetics, I haven’t looked into it.

I’ve tried the same product. Bought off of JD. My issues was the ranges and interface are made for diabetics. Agree 100% with your bullishness.
