1. Sunday’s Idea Brunch
Edwin Dorsey write two publications: The Bear Cave and Sunday’s Idea Brunch. Both of very high quality. Since I don’t do much shorting, my interest lies with the latter.
What makes Sunday’s Idea Brunch so great is that he interviews people who manage money for a living. True stock pickers who know their ideas inside out. And they’re high-quality people across the board. There’s nothing else like it, and all for a very cheap price of just $12/month.
2. The Transcript
The Transcript goes through key earnings call transcripts and picks up key quotes from them. I’ve saved lots of time having them curate the information for me. While most of the companies covered are American or European, I still find it helpful to understand sector trends and Fed policy.
3. Overlooked Alpha
US long/short ideas. Their content is consistently thought-provoking. It’s rare for Substacks to offer variant views on popular stocks. That makes Overlooked Alpha unique in the sea of other American finance related Substacks.
4. Value Punks
Value Punks are professional, value-oriented investors who cover stocks across the globe, including in Japan. Their write-ups are exhaustive with a great attention to detail. Highly underrated, in my view.
5. Emerging Value
I like Olivier’s ideas. He’s focused on value, across the quality spectrum. Most of the stocks discussed are European but there are a few emerging market ideas thrown in for good measure.
6. Turtles all the way down!
Author “IJW” seems to have a similar investment philosophy. He covers mostly European and US stocks. Most of the ideas discussed are value stocks trading at attractive multiples.
7. Yet Another Value Blog
Andrew Rangeley does special situations investing. And you can tell that he’s a professional that knows what he’s doing. Andrew’s YouTube channel is worth following as well.
8. Value Situations
European special situations investing. He’s value focused and does thorough research. Top-notch.
9. TSOH Investment Research
I will admit that some of stocks discussed at TSOH are a bit too pricey for my liking. But there’s no doubt that Alex has an eye for quality, and the research is top-notch as well.
10. Astutex.ai
Astutex provides alt-data on global equities, focusing on search query analytics. They also have an excellent Twitter account that provides trade ideas almost every week.
11. TrendingData
TrendingData covers hot new consumer trends, which I then try to translate into stock ideas. Definitely worth your time.
12. MacroValue’s Newsletter
What I like about MacroValue’s ideas is that they’re totally contrarian. Perhaps close to what Michael Burry would call “icky stocks”. But his ideas usually perform well, and his writing is always worth your time.
13. Insider Ideas
I love the stock picking approach taken by Insider Ideas. By following the data from insider transactions, you’re bound to find hidden gems. Most of the stocks mentioned on the Substack, I had never heard of before. So it’s always a delight to get a new Insider Ideas post into my inbox.
14. Neckar’s Minds and Markets
I love Frederik’s writing. He writes about market related topics, including biographies of market participants, financial history and business related topics. Well worth your time.
Sorry, if I missed mentioning your Substack. It was probably not intentional. And to everyone else, thanks for your continued support!
Thanks Michael!
Thank you, Michael!
